About
When I was sixteen I landed a job on the landscaping team for a large resort and ornamental gardens. The job proved pivotal; as I learned the basics of garden maintenance I also discovered a keen interest in working with plants. I carried this interest to the University of Washington where I found a multitude of classes on plant ecology, physiology and landscape design. I also worked internships studying integrated pest management, forest ecology, and evolutionary genetics. I graduated with a B.S. in Biology and minor in Urban Ecological Design (from the dept. of Landscape Architecture). Following my studies I moved out to a small organic farm to learn about a different kind of botany: agricultural. I spent my first year on the farm learning as an intern, and my second year putting that education to use managing the 2 acres of diversified vegetables. Throughout all of these experiences I dreamt up a business that would bring joy to communities through inspiring landscapes and nutrient rich foods, thus Four-Leaf Farm and Gardening LLC was born.
My work is based off of a core belief that the solutions to most of the problems we encounter in our landscapes and food system can be found in the natural world. I use regenerative and organic principals to cultivate gardens that will flourish for the long-term with minimal maintenance. Rather than fight to impose my will on nature I strive to select plants best suited to the locations they will grow, and provide the right building blocks for nature to do the heavy lifting. When we pay attention to an ecosystem's form and function the result is vigorous growth without constant attention and costly additives.
Grow well,
